Well-preserved diner with iconic tower sign at this remote eastern-Connecticut crossroads.
‘Zip’ was the nickname of retired State Trooper Henry Zehrer, who ran an earlier diner starting 1946 on Rt. 6 near the Powdrell & Alexandria Mill in Danielson. Current diner opened at its current location Memorial Day 1954, and was sold to Conrad and Olive Jodoin in 1960. [Thanks to Daniel Zilka]
