Soul food restaurant operated since 1986, made famous by fans of R.E.M.’s 1992 album Automatic for the People, the title taken from the eatery’s motto (with permission of its owner Dexter Weaver). Named an American Classic by the James Beard Foundation in 2007. You might or might not spot members of R.E.M. or the B-52s here, but you’ll get great soul food either way.
