Famed St. Louis tennis champ Ted Drewes, Sr. opened his first frozen custard stand in Florida in 1929, and another the next year on Natural Bridge Road in St. Louis, then on South Grand in 1931 and Chippewa in 1941. By 1958, only the latter two remained. The Chippewa branch sells custom-grown Christmas trees from Nova Scotia during the season.
