First of what was once a chain of 67 root beer stands across multiple states, and the last remaining under the original family, now run by Rick and Jennifer Bilby. (Three more survive in New Jersey, all independent.) Founded 1993 by Oscar Weber Bilby, who made culinary fame with a large cookout on Independence Day in 1891, according to a popular story which includes one of several competing claims for the invention of the hamburger.

Famous for many things, but most of all their root beer, still made from the original secret recipe, also available in bottles up to a gallon.
