Condition: Well preserved
Notes:
Originally in Exeter, where it was eventually completely enclosed by a larger building. It closed 2003 and moved to Carsonia Avenue in Reading in 2005, with a plan for restoration and reopening as part of a planned WW2 memorial. When that didn’t work out, it was moved here in 2010 and restored 2011. The diner may be viewed by museum visitors but does not serve food.
Interesting for a vehicle museum, Jerry O’Mahony was the first major diner maker to never make a wheeled lunch wagon, as earlier ones had. The small wheels on early O’Mahony diners were only for taking them the final leg to their placement site.
