Originally opened as Central Diner by Ralph “Truck” Narducci, at 27 Exchange St. in Down City (present site of Westin Hotel), replacing an earlier (1932) establishment of the same name. Moved to present location in 1953, with kitchen added, and then closed 1972. Went through several owners and names since then, including Elmwood Diner, Jim’s, Louie’s, and La Criolla (2002). Vestibule added sometime after 1955. Renovated and reopened 2007 as Liberty Elm. Closed again 2013 and reopened 2014 as Elmwood Diner. Closed 2 April 2017. Reopened 2023 as El Rincon Dominicano.
